The Circle was founded in 1993 by a group of scholars especially concerned with Merleau-Ponty's thought. At present we have more than 100 members. Besides holding annual conferences in autumn, we issue Les études merleau-pontiennes, the journal of our society every year. We have been making a database of theses, papers, and books concerning Merleau-Ponty and keeping in close contact with Merleau-Ponty scholars in America, France, and Italy. We welcome not only philosophers who wish to acquire a deeper understanding of Merleau-Ponty's writings but also individuals from various disciplines who are interested in his work.
